    French Maize

    French Maize which is a much firmer ‘cousin’ to sweetcorn. It is 8-10mm in size when cooked and makes a superb Hookbait or addition to particle and spod mixes due to it bright yellow colour and crunchy texture even when prepared. It is a very cost-effective particle which can also be coloured or flavoured and needs to be soaked and boiled prior to use.

    French Maize Properties:

    • Dry: Tooth-shaped, 5mm x 8mm x 10mm golden yellow seed
    • Cooked: Only swells and softens slightly, 6mm x 9mm x 10mm 
    • Very cost effective, visually attractive, sweetcorn-like particle 
    • High in starch (energy) and low in oil 
    • Very attractive to Carp, Bream, Roach and Tench
    • This particle is best delivered by spod, spomb or boat
    • Superb in a spod mix with Hemp Seed, 10mm Live System and Flaked Maize
    • Fish with yellow rig foam to create a buoyant or balanced presentation 
    • French Maize can also be very effective when flavoured 
    • An excellent year-round loose feed that adds a great hookbait option into your particle mix 

    Preparation Guide:

    1. Soak: Cover in boiling water and leave to soak for 24 hours
    2. Boil: Boil for 30 minutes or until they fully expand and become golden
    3. Enhance: Add any enhancers when soaking, then boil in the same water. To ferment, add sugar after boiling, keep sealed and warm, opening occasionally to release pressure
